      Hi Shane,

I was always interested in nature and the environment. Growing up I loved playing outside and watching nature documentaries, especially anything by David Attenborough.
At university I studied lots of different types of biology but I was always more attracted to the zoology-based subjects rather than the genetic or biochemical route. I guess I’m more interested in large scale, evolutionary patterns rather than all the detailed biochemical reactions that go on in a cell. I love studying ecology and evolutionary biology because they teach you how to think about animals and nature and how to understand the world around us.
      Sive
