      (Most of the time) Yes!

      It is a privilege to be able to study how a fascinating and important area such as energy production works and to make some contribution to what will be one of the key areas of advance over the next 20 years.
      I am lucky to pick what I want to work on and work with interesting people. When you get a result or finding that nobody else has seen, there is a great feeling. On top of that, that your work may likely be used to the benefit of many people is also a great motivator.

      Yes! Being a PhD student is lots of fun because you’re given the freedom to come up with your own ideas and figure out ways to test them. There’s also lots of opportunities to travel and meet really interesting people and you get to take part in fun things like this! Of course, there are tedious days when everything seems to be going wrong too but I think that happens in every job and, thankfully, there are far more good days than bad!

      It’s hard work sometimes but it’s so rewarding and interesting to solve problems in science.

      Yes with my team members we end up laughing a lot, we are lucky that in our lab we can play the radio and sing and nobody minds. In the office, I really enjoy reading about new findings and its great fun to be able to design an experiment to test your ideas. I did some teaching as well in the University and I really enjoy that, students are a great source of laughs! Im sure your teacher agrees!
