      Hi,

Some people know exactly what they want to do for their PhDs but I didn’t have any particular plan. So I ended up studying tenrecs by chance and good luck 🙂
When I was in the 3rd year of my degree we did a course where we learned about all the different types of vertebrates. That was the first time I heard about tenrecs and I just thought they were weird and cool. Then, during the final year of my degree, a new lecturer started working at the department. She had an idea for a PhD project that would compare tenrecs to other mammals which I found really interesting. I also knew the project would involve lots of travel to natural history museums and hopefully a trip to Madagascar so I jumped at the chance 🙂
